About Us

The Didsbury Players are a very friendly amateur dramatic society based in Didsbury, South Manchester. We meet every Tuesday night from 8pm till 10pm in the clubhouse of the Didsbury Cricket Club, close to the East Didsbury railway and tram stations, Fletcher Moss Gardens and The Didsbury pub.

We always welcome new members for both back stage and performing roles. We put on 3 or 4 performances a year ranging from epic musicals to small dramas. So if you think you might have the drama bug, or are interested in catching it, please drop us a line or come along to one of our Tuesday meetings.

The Didsbury Players amateur dramatic society was formed in 1961 as 'Celesta Players' by a group of local people who wished to stage theatre productions. At an Annual General Meeting in 2012, the group's members voted to change the group's name to The Didsbury Players to reflect its part in the local community.

In the early days, the Didsbury Players had a permanent home at St Luke's Church Hall in West Didsbury. More recently, the group have staged performances at the East Didsbury Methodist Church Hall, which has a purpose built stage and can accommodate audiences of over 100 people. The group also uses the Didsbury Cricket Club as a performance venue for smaller plays which lends itself to a more intimate setting.

The group normally have three productions a year with rehearsals for the Pantomime beginning in early autumn.

We warmly welcome new members who want to give drama a go or help out with backstage & technical activities.
