Whilst we are on our summer break, we will still be meeting every tuesday at Didsbury Cricket Club (DCC) and organising various social activities.

Watch this space for further news during the summer.

Our Annual General Meeting will be held in the function room at Didsbury Cricket Club (DCC) at 8pm on Tuesday 11th July.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who would like to join our group to come along and meet us.

As a new season starts, we are pleased to say that we shall, with a little help from the Manchester Community Chest, be renewing our long serving sound system. This will help us to produce more polished productions in the lighting and sound department.

For anyone interested in joining Celesta Players, please bear in mind that many of us are away during the summer period.
Rehearsals for our next production have already started, so the best time to meet all of us is in September. Our Panto with both adults and the youth section will be in January 2006. So if you prefer a bit of 'song and dance' then this is the chance you've been waiting for.

We look forward to another seasonal Panto. Our Production of Sleeping Beauty is a nother great entertainment for all the family.

Celesta Players and Celesta Youth combine together for this annual production.

It is with great sadness that our drama group has to announce the death of Eddy Bell, our president since 1989. Eddy died peacefully on 5th April at St Ann's Hospice after a long illness.

Eddy was renowned for his ready wit and made frequent use of the pun, often with hilarious results. He was a great President for Celesta Players, guiding the group through both good and difficult times with equanimity. It is difficult to avoid using the cliché ‘a one-off’, but Eddy was definitely that. He has left us with many happy memories and finding another President who will show the same commitment and enthusiasm will be a great challenge.

He will be greatly missed by his many friends and members of our dramatic society. Eddy became Chairman of the society in 1975. He has appeared consistently in at least one production in every single year, his last appearance being in the summer review 2002.

Our web site hosting service has been upgraded to enhance our web site performance.
This has now been completed and we apologise for any difficulties experienced by visitors during this process.

Due to unforseen circumstances, our advertised spring Play production has had to be postponed to a later date.

In place of this, we will be putting on a production of two One Act Plays. This will take place at the Didsbury Cricket Club on Saturday 1st May and Sunday 2nd May 2004.

This years Panto is our own adaptation of the Wizard of Oz

Celesta Players have been given a grant from the Community Chest to assist in our project to upgrade the theatre lighting system used during our productions. This is the largest project undertaken by the group during the last ten years will enable us to significantly improve the style of our future performances.
