A young and upwardly mobile couple move in to their new house and decide to have a house warming party. An elderly neighbour with her own family problems, means this may not be the happy occasion everyone was hoping for.
A story of the ordinary people of Accrington, Lancashire and how they were affected by the tragedy of the 1914-18 Great War. The action takes place during the first two years of the conflict and the build up to the Battle of the Somme in 1916.
