The Prince & The Porpoise

If you've been waiting to audition to join the Didsbury Players then this is your chance to be involved in one of the silliest, most fun shows of the year!

The evil business man, Donald Trout, wants to Make Pantoland Great Again! He's going to tear down the woods where Jayne & Mal have their home with the help of the evil witch Mother May, their new stepmother. To aid him, Trout has developed a drug which will reveal a person's inner porpoise, turning them into his Zombie Dolphin Army! Only the science of Prince Dashing (and a magical golden platypus) can save the day!

on 26th & 27th January 2018 at 8pm
with a 2.30pm Matinee performance on the 27th

There will be a script read-through on Tuesday 17th October from 8pm at the Didsbury Cricket Club.

Open auditions will be held on Sunday 22nd and Tuesday 24th of October.

You only need to attend one of the audition dates.

Sunday 22nd from 2pm upstairs at The Gateway Pub, Parrs Wood.
Tuesday 24th from 7.30pm at The Didsbury Cricket Club.

Anyone who wants to be considered for a singing or dancing part (be that principal or ensemble) must be there promptly at the beginning of the audition.
There will be a short song and dance segment together that will help to form part of your audition.
If you're not there from the beginning then that might affect your chances of being cast in your preferred role.

You can audition for a maximum of 3 parts. You must at least do the ensemble audition.

See bottom of page for downloadable audition pieces.

Jayne – Female (played as a girl). Sings and dances.

Female lead. Loves science & watching the Prince’s balls. Sister to Mal, hates her new step-mother, Mother May (the dame). Their father has been lost in the forest since before the start of the panto and her and Mal are starting to get suspicious.

Audition Song - Shout Out To My Prince (originally "Shout Out To My Ex" by Little Mix)

Prince Dashing – Male or Female (played as a boy). Sings and dances.

Male lead. He’s good meaning, maybe a bit geeky and not that Dashing after all, but has to live a lie for the public. Would love to meet someone he could just be himself with. Doesn’t trust Donald Trout.

Audition Song - In Love With Your Mind (originally "Shape Of You" by Ed Sheeran)

Mal – Male or Female (played as a boy). Possibly sings and dances but flexible on this.

Jayne’s brother, he’s sarcastic and funny. Fills the role usually played by the ‘best friend’ character. Also hates Mother May and worried about his dad.

Bonkers old man, sometimes believes he is Elvis.

Trout’s aide. A bit pathetic.

Optional Audition Song - Steal Their Sunshine (originally "Steal My Sunshine" by Len)

An audience member who arrives late to the panto and is made to be the other guard.

The Crone – Female. Sings but barely at all, could be flexible on this. Will probably dance.
